Personally, I’ve always struggled with dad gifts. I feel like when you look up gifts for men, especially dads, the results are always grilling equipment or pocket knife or alcohol-related. Personally, none of this would appeal to my nerdy husband as a Father’s Day gift. So, I’ve put together a list of unique gifts for Father’s Day that aren’t the traditional types of gifts. Because not every man needs a new watch or plays golf.
Audiobooks
My husband absolutely loves audiobooks, especially now that he’s a dad. It’s hard for him to find time to actually read, so he listens while he does the dishes or plays video games. Personally, we use Audible. because you get a credit every month that you can use on any audiobook. Plus, they have tons of originals and podcasts that you can get for free with a subscription. So, if you’ve got a reader in your life with no time, then a subscription might be the perfect unique gift for Father’s Day.
Star Wars Sign
I actually got this for my husband back when we had our second son. It’s a sign that says, “I am their father,” with the kids’ names attached to lightsabers. I thought it was so much fun, and you can customize the lightsaber color. It’s great for the nerdy Star Wars dad in your life. You can buy it on Etsy.
Displate
Ever heard of Displate? They’re a metal poster company, and their posters are pretty easy to hang up. We love them because they have tons of unique art from all sorts of different fandoms. Pretty much whatever dad loves, they probably have some posters from it. Video games, books, movies, you name it. Plus, in general, Displate has a lot of unique artists and works. You can even pick your size and finishings. They’re definitely worth checking out for a Father’s Day gift!
Homemade Coupons
There’s no real need to buy something for Father’s Day. You can always create something with or for your kids. If you’ve got older kids, you can brainstorm ideas with them. But if you’ve got younger kids, some ideas might be getting to sleep in or breakfast in bed. There’s also picking the movie/TV show for the night, picking the dinner for the night, or taking over some simple chores like walking the dog. Be sure to customize it based on the specific dad in your life. The coupons don’t need to be fancy unless you want them to be. You can make them with construction paper and markers. If you’ve got older kids, definitely get them involved. There are also tons of templates out there too.
Baked Goods
One quick way to get something ready for Father’s Day is to bake it. If your guy has a favorite baked good, you can make it for him. Baking it yourself shows more care and thoughtfulness because you’ve taken the time and energy to make something they’ll love. If you’ve got older kids, you can also make it a fun group activity. They’ll have fun, and you’ll have a gift for Father’s Day.
Clothes
This one’s a little boring, but it can be a super helpful Father’s Day gift. If the dad in your life is anything like my husband, then he doesn’t really have time for clothes shopping. Shopping for clothes that he actually needs and wears will be helpful, so he doesn’t need to make a trip himself. Novelty shirts are fun and can be a great gift too. But it might be worth buying the plain T-shirts or work shirts he needs instead. My husband’s shoes were absolutely falling apart, but he hadn’t had a chance to replace them. So, I bought him new shoes for Christmas, and he was actually happy about it. Depending on the dad, he might be super grateful to avoid the shopping time.
Board Games
This is a great gift because it can be used for both family time and friend time. If you’ve got a guy who loves to host or who just loves board games in general, getting a new one can be a great gift. You can go searching for unique board games. Magic Maze can be chaotic and fun. There’s also Millennium Blades, which can be great for someone who loves to play hobby card games. Mysterium is good for a spookier time. In general, Reddit can be an excellent resource for finding new board games that would appeal to your specific guy.
Hopefully, this list of unique gifts for Father’s Day was helpful in getting you to think outside the box. Obviously, if you’ve got a dad who loves to grill or is in desperate need of a new wallet, it’s easy to come up with gifts. Otherwise, it’s always important to go with what would appeal to your specific dad. You want to get them something they specifically will find fun or useful.
