Here’s my thing.
Too many moms place themselves last. We obsess over how many vegetables our kids are getting, but we forget to eat. We plan outings for our kids to make sure they have good experiences and intellectual stimulation, but we don’t do that for ourselves. We shame our bodies even as we struggle to find time to work out.
At its best, the mom experience is often simply prioritizing others over yourself. At its worst, it’s active neglect and shame.
Maybe we stop doing that.
Bonafide Motherhood is about providing helpful, practical advice for moms who feel overwhelmed by the very idea of starting to take care of their own health. Maybe you’ve started that journey and you’re not sure what to focus on. Maybe you know what you could be doing, but you can’t figure out how to actually do it. From new moms just figuring it out to veteran moms who have spent years focusing on other people, you’re welcome here.

I’m Erin
I have three sons under 5, and I’m still figuring it out. This site isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about sharing the things I’ve learned over the course of almost five years of motherhood while juggling my own mental and physical health. I’ve made my health a priority because it has to be. And now, I’m taking you along for the ride because you deserve to be able to do that too.
